Memorial Day
1.
Memorial Day is an American holiday observed on
the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died serving in the U.S. Military.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the
Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
2.
The purpose of Memorial Day is to honor the people
whom served in the U.S. Military and the one’s whom died doing it, and to thank
and celebrate those people.
3.
It is on the last Monday of May every year, this
year it is on the 25th of May, 2015.
4.
A few ways to show honor on Memorial Day is to
visit the graves of the people whom
fought during the Wars and another way is to visit a parade cities and towns
have them every year.

“If I’ve got correct goals, and if I
keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything else falls into line. If
I do the right thing right, I’m going to succeed.”
Dan Dierdorf
Reflection: I agree with this quote because that’s a
good way to succeed and accomplish your goals and everything else will get
better. Doing the right thing is as important than not doing the wrong thing,
its good for you it’s healthy and can help you live better and happier in life. If people did the right thing as much as they did the wrong thing then their life and everyone else's life would be better and more successful.

"Nothing is ever gained in doing what's wrong."
Wilford Woodruff
Reflection: I agree with this quote because if you do something wrong like cheat you will think you gained something when you really didn't and doing something wrong in no way benefits you or the people around you. To gain something you would have to do right and you will feel good which will benefit you unlike guilt from doing something wrong.

"The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem."
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Reflection: I agree with this quote because if you do something right you will feel better rather than look better and it the more important thing is how you feel. Doing the right thing can benefit not only yourself but other people around you which can make you feel better,

Forgiveness
Forgiveness
Prisoner Eric Smallridge was convicted with a DUI and Manslaughter for drinking and driving; killing two girls Megan and Lisa around the age of 20. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison but when Megan's mother Renee asks the judge to cut that sentence in half the judge does. Megan's mother (one of the girls killed in the accident) forgives Eric because she doesn't want to hate him forever and she sees that he is really sorry for what he did to her daughter so she forgives him for what he did. They both talk to kids at school about drinking and driving and Eric gets out early from prison and gets to be with his happy parents eventually the other girls family forgives him to.

"When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive."
Alan Paton
Reflection: I agree with this quote because it is true that, if we don't forgive someone no matter how deep the injury; it is not heald until you forgive the person whom injured you.
